The role

These days ships are built in bits as well as in steel. The xR team, utilises modern technology like serious gaming, Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality to help operate naval vessels.

As interim Extended Reality (xR) Developer you will be working with other developers, subject matter experts, game designers and game artists in a scrum team building mind-blowing immersive environments and serious games to train our clients’ sailors. Damen Naval need a programming ninja (preferably with a black belt in Unity C#) to help build our virtual ships.

Not only the Damen Naval virtual ships in Unity need building, but our inhouse productivity tools also need developer attention (Python and Blender). As interim Extended Reality (xR) Developer you are expected for security reasons to spend most of your working hours on our premise.

Skills & experience

As xR-Developer, you will need to have:

• Bachelor degree in the field of software development and preferably game development or by experience, possess the same competencies and skills.
• At least three years working experience as a developer in the Unity3D game engine.
• Solid understanding of the C# language and software development (data structures, algorithms, object-oriented design, and design patterns).
• Experience with the development of Virtual Reality applications, Python, the Blender API, and relational databases are considered a plus.
• Working knowledge of the English language as some team members don’t speak Dutch).
• Excellent antecedents as a pre-employment security screening and investigation are a part of the recruitment procedure (given the military nature of our projects).
• Permanent EU citizenship and valid EU work visa are both required to be considered as viable candidate.

You will need to prove your skills by completing a small programming challenge.
